Daar Carole, The Skipton Library do not hold any relevant newspaper records. They kindly also checked the Colne libraries and then sent my request to Leeds. Leeds then checked the Leeds Intelligencer but could find no report. The three libraries provided quick, thorough and free searches so I was very pleased with their help.

Hopefully someone tracing my John in England will be able to fill in the gaps in the future. I have been able to unravel some of his other descendents.
Regards
Caimein

Hello Caimein

What a shame that the newspaper records are not availble.

Hopefully someone can inform you of what happened.

Hi Caimein and Maxine,

Caimein, yes, that's good news about the libraries doing those searches for you. At least you've covered that now and can decide what or where to move onto next in your research, and yes I'm sure that as time goes on more gaps will be filled. Sometimes snippets of info have a way of cropping up when you least expect them, don't they? But apart from that, all was not lost if in the process you've unravelled more about John's descendents Great Stuff!!

Caimein, whilst writing - I realise that you're Smith interests for inclusion in the Smith Project's interests list, are still in the temporary folder, along with a lot of other members'. Its been a really hectic year with a lot of work done on improving the sites - as well as obstacles to get over along the way, causing more set-backs. So, still so much outstanding Smith List input to catch up with yet. This will all be done eventually and Online Office will soon include a "Pigeon hole" for every Project member, which is part of the plan to improve updating in the future. It's just taking so long! - but in the long term, should make it better, once the new system is properly in place.

Maxine is now moderating this Yorkshire West Riding Board and so she'll also be here to help and advise concerning Yorkshire records, if you need it.

Please keep us informed Caimein and I'm sure we'll talk again soon.

Dear Carole, I have had two messages in my hotmail saying there has been a message left for me however I cannot find it on the site.
Do you know where it would be located?
Thanks
Caimein

Hello Caimein,

Were they Topic Notifications? If so - oh sorry to disappoint you, but it was probably as a result of my 2 posts above - just to inform yourself and our other West Riding of Yorkshire researcher-members of the new page where your updated Interests Summary is located, & asking you to let me know if any further updates are needed to it. (Smith List page 24 - left hand column)

I'm not sure whether there are any other messages for you anywhere on the Boards - Could they be Private Messages - have you checked those? (click on "Mail" or "No Messages" in the Gold Buttons Menu at the top of Smith Chat pages)

Chat again soon

Carole Very Happy
