Jodrell Bank Is Calling.

Signals lost in outer space.
Sent out by the human race.
Jodrell Bank is calling.
Travelling over space and time.
To planets seen for the first time.
Jodrell Bank is rolling.

I came, I saw, you conquered.
You took my breath away.
The dish on my horizon.
You’ve sailed the Milky Way.

Jodrell followed Major Tom.
Tracked him till all engines gone.
His message was not sent in vain.
Jodrell brought him home again.

As he floated out in his tin can.
Down here no one could see.
Death sitting next to Major Tom.
No one to set him free.

Then signal sent from planet blue.
Jodrell Bank is tracking you.
Space Oddities ever since our birth.
I’ll bring you home to planet earth.

Jodrell led the way for Hubble.
In space a leading light.
Now Jodrell’s calling out in trouble.
For all to come and fight.

Jodrell calling outer space.
Welcome from the human race.
Transmitting signal now to say.
Before our message fades away.
Jodrell waiting for reply.
Not long now until I die.

This poem was written as Jodrell Bank is running out of money after all these years.
Jodrell is only about 8 miles from us and someone wrote the words for a song about Jodrell which was only 2 verses long.
It was read out on the local radio station (silk FM) and they asked for someone to write music to the lyrics. I heard the words last saturday morning and within 10 minutes had written mine. I sent it off to silk FM thinking no more about it.
Friday evening when I got home the kids were saying it was read out on the radio and I was famous. Even though not true it's nice to have your kids think your special.
