The will of Alexander Duxbury of Clayton le moors, blacksmith 28 april 1725, probate, written 10 mar 1723, mentions messuage and tenement in Clayton le Moors, bequeathed to Samuel Smith his nephew, he to pay to his brother William for the use of Alexander son of William, 40s, one half 29 sep after AD's death and half the next year 29 sep. I give to William Smith my nephew all my coorking tools in and about the shop where the said WS now coorkets. I give to my nephew James Smith £4. I give to james, son of my nephew james 20s. Other siblings and nieces, nephews remembered. William Smith also to have bed and furniture, desk in the parlour, the rest of my goods to my nephew Samuel Smith. Samuel Smith executor. Inventory £66 12s 9d

Elizabeth Duxbury, b abt 1674, dau of William and Jane, m X Smith abt 1694, children Samuel abt 1694, William abt 1696, james abt 1698. William had son Alexander and james had son james.

William Duxbury son of William, innkeeper and Catherine Duxbury of Holt Mill, b 1737 m Mary/ Ann Smith 9 sep 1760 Altham, she b abt 1742, children mary Duxbury 1762, William 1765 Thomas 1770, Joseph 1772, james 1775, John 1777, Alexander 1780, from Dunkenhalgh and Returns of papists, William at Billington in 1767, will of William Duxbury nov 1755 lists his children, all catholic.
