this may be of use to many...........

I have put together a list using Excell, of the crew of the

HMS Glorious,
HMS Ardent, and
HMS Acasta

that were all sunk off Norway on June 8 1940, with the loss of 1517 lives and only 39 survivers.

The list I have has a great many next of kin details. I may in time try and get other sunken ship details but these too will take a long time to acquire

Thank you very much Mike for this database, which you kindly sent to me by email attachment.

April 2007 : A note to all Smith Project & Smith Chat members:

Mike's Excel File Database has now been uploaded to Smith Project's Filestore and accessible from DataFiles Sub-board You will need to log-in to access that sub-board and as a member of the >> Special Permissions Usergroup >>

However - I've extracted all the Smiths Servicemen Data from Mike's file and these are listed below.

If you find relatives of other surnames within Mike's Database, it would be appreciated if you would post the details here.

Or, please share any additional information you have about the tragic circumstances of the 8th June 1940.
